Ingredients
Milk:
Milk serves as the base of hot chocolate, providing creaminess and richness to the beverage. You can use whole milk for a luxurious texture, but you can choose any milk, such as skim milk, almond milk, or oat milk, based on your preference.
Cocoa Powder:
Cocoa powder is made from roasted and ground cocoa beans. It adds the chocolate flavour and richness to hot chocolate. Use unsweetened cocoa powder to control the sweetness of the drink.
Sugar:
Sugar sweetens the hot chocolate, balancing the bitterness of the cocoa powder. You can adjust the amount of granulated sugar based on your desired level of sweetness, instead of using the typical amount.
Chocolate:
You can add real chocolate, either in the form of chopped chocolate or chocolate chips to hot chocolate for extra richness and depth of flavour. You can use semi-sweet or dark chocolate, but if you prefer a sweeter taste, opt for milk chocolate.
Vanilla Extract:
Vanilla extract enhances the flavour of hot chocolate, adding a subtle sweetness and aromatic depth. It complements the chocolate flavour and adds complexity to the beverage.
Salt:
Add a pinch of salt to the hot chocolate to enhance the chocolate flavour and balance the sweetness. It helps to bring out the richness of the chocolate and create a more balanced taste.
Whipped Cream or Marshmallows (Optional):
Whipped cream or marshmallows are popular toppings for hot chocolate, adding a creamy and indulgent finish to the drink. You can add them for richer and more textured experience according to your preference.
Each ingredient plays a crucial role in creating a delicious and satisfying cup of hot chocolate, combining to create a harmonious blend of flavours and textures that is perfect for cosy moments and chilly days.
