Ingredients

  • 200 g chocolate chopped (dark or semi-sweet)
  • 30 g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp instant coffee
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 125 ml of cream

Instructions

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the chopped chocolate, sugar, unsalted butter, instant coffee, cream and salt.
  • Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate melts.
  • Let it cool slightly before using.
  • This chocolate sauce is perfect for drizzling over desserts, and you can store any leftovers in the fridge!

Double boil method

  • Fill a saucepan with about 1-2 inches of water and bring it to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Place a heatproof bowl on top of the saucepan, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water (this setup is the double boiler).
  • Add the chopped chocolate, cream, butter, instant coffee powder, sugar and salt to the bowl.
  • Stir gently as the chocolate begins to melt, ensuring it combines smoothly with the cream.
  • Once fully melted and smooth, remove the bowl from the heat.
  • This rich and silky chocolate sauce is perfect for drizzling over desserts, dipping fruits, or pouring over ice cream!

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavour.
Adjust the consistency to use as a drizzle, dip, or topping.
When storing homemade chocolate sauce in the fridge, it may thicken. Just microwave it for a few seconds before using it to get it back to the perfect consistency.
